Description

This was shot last week on the beach in Scotland. I have never been so cold in my entire life, I have shot in snow, in ice and driving rain, but this was like nothing I've ever experienced before. The wind chill brought the temperature down to -3 but it felt like -10 our brains froze and breathing was even difficult, the body just did not wish to take in the whipping winds and iced air (I'm not exaggerating one bit!) The rocks were even covered in a slither of ice in places. David said I was insane and tried to convince me not to do it (as I have lupus) but once my mind is set there is no going back, we took just 4 shots before David got a severe pain in his head from the cold and we fled back to our beach side cottage (me still nude as I was too frozen to attempt to dress).

The image is not quite what I'd envisioned, but with just 4 shots and no test I don't think we did too badly and it's a great personal image for us, the memories it will bring when we're old!

Very compelling composition thanks to the many contrasts contained wherein: dark/light; soft/hard; static/steady; sky/sea/subject; etc.
