This was shot last week on the beach in Scotland. I have never been so cold in my entire life, I have shot in snow, in ice and driving rain, but this was like nothing I've ever experienced before. The wind chill brought the temperature down to -3 but it felt like -10 our brains froze and breathing was even difficult, the body just did not wish to take in the whipping winds and iced air (I'm not exaggerating one bit!) The rocks were even covered in a slither of ice in places. David said I was insane and tried to convince me not to do it (as I have lupus) but once my mind is set there is no going back, we took just 4 shots before David got a severe pain in his head from the cold and we fled back to our beach side cottage (me still nude as I was too frozen to attempt to dress).

The image is not quite what I'd envisioned, but with just 4 shots and no test I don't think we did too badly and it's a great personal image for us, the memories it will bring when we're old!

…but it was worth it, congrats! I love Scotland's leaden skies and black rocks, I wouldn't know any other place that offered this combination plus accessibility. Maybe Brittany in France?
Cheers! Patrick

For the blistering cold, you sure held your composure very well in the shot. I totally know the feeling. It was almost 5 degrees in the woods in a few of my shots and I could barely hold myself together being nude. But you...in -3...now that's harsh. It gives me no reason to complain about what I experienced, haha. :)

As always, you do an unbelievably good job. :)

I really admire your nakedness in such severely cold conditions. But still a really beautiful composition, with the contrast of your lovely body on the dark rock, and the sea rushing in to the beach. Wonderful!! - Phil :):)

My, it certainly does look cold! And that would only make me that much more likely to fall for a siren, especially one who looked so beautiful and vulnerable, completely naked as you are. I'd hardly be able to keep myself from running over and giving over my coat!

Wonderful composition, very sexy, and tastefully done. :D

Probably not an intended feature, but the more serious look on your face and the windy hair adds a "dash" of sorts to the overall piece. Nice work regardless, even if it wasn't what you intended.

The photographer is the one who got cold and called it?  That's great.

It's a beautiful shot.  The wind-whipped hair in your face really sells the conditions.

Yes haha, the photographer is my husband and he wasn't feeling well to start with and the icy winds really did pierce your head, mine hurt a little too.

Thanks so much. x

I agree with what others have said, truly awesome. Again, a real winner here. Bless you for daring the cold, in those conditions, frostbite of bare skin can happen fast and I'm glad neither of you were hurt seriously by the extreme cold. Personally as a photographer, I would not have done it, I just can't ask a model to be so exposed in such extreme cold. I'm not judging by any means, I just could not have done it. I love doing photography and will do a lot to get the shot, but I just can't put a model at risk.

You both are very brave souls and deliver awesome works together and I applaud you both for your commitment to your art and yes, what a story that image will bring to you both in years to come. The memory will always be priceless. :-)

I am always very impressed by your work and that of your photographer.  There is always a hint, at least to me, of the fantastical.  As if there were a thin veil between where you are and some place mythical.  I enjoy your work very much.  In fact the reason I logged on to day was seeing your post on face book.  I was hoping for the dungan, LOL.  I have a strong prefixation with all things medieval.  Dugans are not my favorite place but they are normally in a castle

Way to suffer for your art! And by the way, I would think David would be ashamed to say the cold was giving him a headache - I bet he wasn't naked! Anyway, this conveys inner cold much better than the one in the smoking room, like a banshee foretelling death.
